Sadhana Ravikumar earned a Ph.D. in Bioengineering at Penn, advised by Paul Yushkevich, with the dissertation “Characterizing medial temporal lobe neurodegeneration due to tau pathology in Alzheimer’s disease using postmortem imaging” (2022), and continued at PICSL as a postdoctoral researcher. Sadhana’s work combined ex vivo MRI with serial histology to map where tau tangles accumulate in the medial temporal lobe and how they relate to neurodegeneration, including an ex vivo atlas of the earliest regions affected by Alzheimer’s disease (ISBI 2020), an ex vivo MRI atlas of the MTL (Acta Neuropathologica Communications, 2021), and a 3D atlas of tau tangles in the medial temporal lobe (Nature Communications, 2024). Sadhana received Penn’s 2023 Solomon R. Pollack Award for Excellence in Graduate Bioengineering Research.
Sadhana is now a Senior R&D Engineer on the Medical Computing team at Kitware.
